Raising awareness for MDS
Two years ago, Greystones native Edel O’Meara (picutred) was diagnosed with a condition called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a pre-leukaemic conditions for which there is no cure. Now living in surrey, she talks to Robert Mulhern about her diagnosis, treatment and a growing commitment to an awareness campaign.

On the 6th March 2010 at St. Peter's Church, Black Lion Lane, Hammersmith, London W6, the 'Concert in the Square' musical evening will have the pleasure of one or two guest speakers, one of whom will be the eminent Dr Robert Marcus. He will explain the latest research developments in the field of oncology in order to help the understanding of what goes on behind the scenes and to bring clarity to the work that he and others do, to help advance and to bring a closer understanding in fighting this form of cancer.
Professor Ghulam J Mufti is developing a cancer vaccine
Concert organiser Alun Watkins pictured alongside Professor Ghulam J Mufti, Professor of Haemato-oncology & Head of Department of Haematological Medicine, King’s College Hospital who is currently in the process of developing a cancer vaccine. Along side them is leukaemia campaigner Edel O'Meara a patient of Professor Mufti and fellow concert organiser.
WELSH CHOIR SING TO HELP BLOOD CANCER CHARITY
A ‘Concert in the Square’ in aid of blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and Action Medical Research - for Children, for Life. The programme will be headed by Cwmbach Male Voice Choir, one of the longest standing and best known choirs in Wales.
